What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is a purified, diluted product derived from the Botulinum bacterium. This is a substance that relaxes muscles underlying the surface tissue. In the treatment of wrinkles, very tiny amounts are used. When Botox was first used medically, it was noticed that wrinkles were reduced.
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy involves the injection of a chemical into the veins that are to be removed. The chemical (a sclerosing agent) causes a reaction to the inside of a vein so that it no longer carries blood, filling in with tissue.
What is a Blue Peel?
The OBAGI Blue Peel is an in-office procedure designed to improve the appearance and health of the skin. Dr. Obagi developed a technique to use trichloacetic acid (TCA) to the skin in a safe and consistent manner. The blue color is part of the chemical make-up of the acid.
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive and non-surgical procedure that sprays a stream of fine crystals onto the skin. This crystal spray removes the surface layers, leaving smooth, fresh, rejuvenated skin surfaces.
What does a laser do?
There are several types of lasers used in treatment. Today’s laser technology allows our doctor to safely, easily and effectively treat aging and sun damaged skin and improve scars. A different type of laser allows for the removal of unwanted body hair. Men and women alike are pleased with the long-lasting results made possible by this technology.
Does insurance cover care here?
Many insurances do cover care in our office. Our staff is happy to assist you if your insurance coverage is in question. We are a provider for many insurance companies in the state of Alabama that insure lives. Procedures that are “cosmetic” are considered non-medical necessities, therefore are not covered by insurance.
